Impeachment is only the latest example: Many if not most of the actions public officials take are in response to news accounts of the allegations against President Trump and his team (and of the Democrats conducting the impeachment inquiry.) The same thing held during the Mueller investigation of Russian election interference in 2017-18 … A lot of things about those investigations would not be known if the media was not reporting them.”
